Under the patronage of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Lebanese Republic and organized by the Russian Cultural Center, the “Exhibition of Russian Universities in Lebanon” was launched at the Rafik Hariri University Compound - Hadath, under the slogan “Russia - New Opportunities for Higher Education”, with the participation of 20 Russian universities with more than 250 university majors in medicine, engineering, petroleum, human sciences, arts, and more.

The opening was attended by Alexander Zaspekin, Russian Ambassador to Lebanon, Professor Fouad Ayoub, President of the Lebanese University, Vadim Zaychikov, Head of the Russian Cultural Center in Lebanon, Dr. Alexei Bukov, Dean of Foreign Student Admission at Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, representing the delegation of universities in the Russian Federation, in addition to deans, professors, and public and private high school students.

Ambassador Zaspekin talked about the importance of this exhibition, which actively contributes to strengthening direct links between Russian and Lebanese educational institutions and developing bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the educational field. He expressed his confidence in a good future Russian-Lebanese relations in all fields, namely in the cultural, scientific and economic fields, considering that the development of cooperation will lead to the consolidation of friendship and sympathy between the Russian and Lebanese peoples.

Dr. Bukov pointed out that the universities participating in the exhibition occupy high positions in the Russian and international university rankings, which will enable students to choose their preferable careers. He considered that such exhibitions enhanced the cooperation between Russia and Lebanon over the past years reaching new educational, technical and cultural levels.

Prof. Ayoub praised the role that Russian universities played since the Soviet Union at the level of specializations, curricula and educational capabilities, graduating students from all countries of the world, including Lebanon, where students received their degrees and were distinguished in their fields.

Professor Ayoub revealed that the Lebanese University received a number of Russian students in the Faculty of Law, Political & Administrative Sciences and the Translation Department of the Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences. He added that the Russian language became a course taught in the Faculties of Tourism and Agronomy, and that a number of Lebanese University students annually enroll in Russian universities, including students of the Faculty of Agronomy.

Students toured the exhibition and learned about all specializations in the participating Russian universities, and how to obtain educational scholarships in Russia.
