16/10/2019 - The Lebanese University – Faculty of Fine Arts & Architecture (Branch 1) hosted an Indonesian - Lebanese seminar on "Coexistence and Pluralism"

 

Under the patronage of the President of the Lebanese University, Professor Fouad Ayoub, and the Indonesian Ambassador to Lebanon, Mr. Hajriyanto Y. Thohari, the Lebanese University – Faculty of Fine Arts & Architecture (Branch 1) and the Department of Culture and Information at the Indonesian Embassy held a seminar on "Coexistence in the Shade of Diversity & Pluralism - The Indonesian-Lebanese Experiences", at the Rafic Hariri University Compound - Hadath.

 

The seminar was attended by the Faculty Dean, Dr. Muhammad Al-Hajj, the Branch Director, Dr. Akram Kanso, and a delegation from the Department of Culture and Information at the Indonesian Embassy, in addition to a number of professors, employees and students.

 

The Indonesian Ambassador to Lebanon, Mr. Hajriyanto Y. Thohari, revealed the imminent opening of the Indonesian Culture Center at the Lebanese University, and thanked Professor Ayoub, for his support to the establishment of this center, which will help in accessing information, getting to know Indonesia and participating in Indonesian cultural activities later.

 

For his part, President Fouad Ayoub welcomed the Indonesian Ambassador and expressed his pride in Lebanon's relationship with the Indonesian Republic which raises the slogan "Unity in Diversity".

 

President Ayoub stressed that people’s plurality and diversity is often a factor of cultural and civilizational interaction that leads to social and cognitive integration, and is also a positive factor establishing a certain convergence that is the basis of human development and progress, stressing the importance of the universities role in disseminating this culture among emerging generations.

 

In conclusion, President Ayoub praised the Lebanese-Indonesian interaction and the distinguished relationship between the two countries, and thanked the Faculty for this invitation which would contribute to deepening the Lebanese-Indonesian communication.
