The Lebanese team, which included Kamar Ghandour and Karim Reda (Lebanese University - double major in the Faculties of Engineering – Branch 3 and Sciences – Branch 1) and Rami Al-Qadri (AUST University), ranked first in the finals of the “Huawei ICT Competition Middle East 2019-2020”.

Among 13 teams participating from 11 countries, the Lebanese team topped the results, after competing in a six-hour contest that took place on 30 November 2019 at the Huawei's headquarters in Shenzhen, China.

In the same competition, Eng. Noha Akiki (a contractual professor at the Faculty of Engineering – Branch 3 and supervisor of Karim and Kamar) was awarded “Excellent Teacher Award”.

A summit for ICT ambassadors and consultants was held following an invitation sent by Huawei and the President of the Lebanese University, Professor Fouad Ayoub, was represented by Dr. Bassem Haidar from the Faculty of Sciences (Branch 1).

In particular, H.E. Millia Jabbour, Lebanese Ambassador in China, came to Shenzhen to encourage the Lebanese students and sponsor their success in international competitions.

It is noteworthy that this is the second time that the Lebanese University ranks first in these competitions, as students Hussein Shito, Osama Kandakji and Ahmed Hijazi ranked first in the same competition held in 2017 in the Middle East and third globally.
