The Lebanese University graduate, Director Layal Akiki (Faculty of Fine Arts & Architecture, Branch 2 - Master in Theater Directing - batch of 2018) won the first prize in the "Golden Apple Award” for the best short film “Pick me up bel Pickup”, which will be showcased at the “Asian World Film Festival” in Los Angeles in 2020.

Director Jean-Pierre Abdayem (Faculty of Fine Arts & Architecture, Branch 2 - Master in Theater Directing) also won the “Special Mention Award” for his film “ATHYO” after competing with minor difference in results with the films of the second and third prizes.

Cinemaiyat (Ehdiniyat) was switched to a cultural meeting because of the recent circumstances witnessed in the country and the meeting was held at the Grand Cinema Hall in Dbayeh on 20 November 2019. The participating films were judged by an international local committee headed by Emile Chahine and the membership of actress Diamand Bou Abboud, director and writer Assad Fouladkar, writer and producer Thomas Lim, writer, producer and actress Lian Ho, director Prat Sisson, producer, actress and writer Yôko Narahashi, and actor and writer Akşam Hamada.
