The "UNESCO Club" at the Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences (Branch 5) held a celebration on the occasion of the Arabic Language Day, in the presence of the Faculty Director, Dr. Nassif Nehme and a number of professors and students.
The celebration began with the National and the University anthems and the head of the Arabic Language Department, Dr. Taghreed Al-Tawil, delivered a speech in which she stressed the importance of the Arabic language and its scientific and academic role in building societies.
The representative of UNESCO, Professor Christiane Jeitani, spoke on the occasion after the speech of Dr. Nehme who praised the activities of the "UNESCO Club".
During the ceremony presented by Rita Fakhoury, the students (Rana Zaidan, Nancy Nahle, Amani Hassan and Roua Nehme) presented an activity embodying the simulation of the League of Arab States on behalf of 22 Arab countries and ending with a series of recommendations and a pledge to preserve the Arabic language.
At the end of the ceremony, student Haydar Khalife presented poetic extracts, and certificates were distributed to the students participating in the event and memorial photos were taken.
