Following the invitation of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan, Italy, Professor Talal Derjani (Directing & Acting at the Faculty of Fine Arts & Architecture, Branch 1) of the Lebanese University presented a lecture entitled “Arab theater pioneers: impersonators, not creators”, in the presence of a remarkable international art and academic audience and a number of art students in Italy.
During the seminar organized by the Italian University on 3 December 2019 on “the language of the Arab theater between the errors of translation and plagiarism”, Professor Derjani addressed the abuses and violations committed by the “alleged pioneers of the Arab theater” against Arab and international literature without observing the lowest standards and laws of theatrical art. Professor Derjani also spoke about Italian literature, in particular the literature of "Alberto Moravia", which was forged by some Arab translators and script writers.
On the sidelines of his cultural trip to Italy, Professor Derjani visited the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera built in the Brera Palace in 1615, and met with a group of administrators and professors, including Elisabetta Solca, International Relations Officer, Roberto Favaro, Deputy Director General, and Dr. Maria Tchulakova.
As President of the "The Other Theater" Association, which includes a large number of artists and graduates from the Faculty of Fine Arts & Architecture at the Lebanese University, Professor Derjani signed an art and cultural cooperation agreement with the Academy, which awards Master’s and PhD degrees in Arts. The agreement aimed at exchanging and sharing research and creative expertise and knowledge.
