The student Esraa Medlej received a distinction "Very Honorable" after discussing in Italy on 12 November 2019 her PhD dissertation in "Basic Physics", entitled “Micromagnetic modeling of skyrmion dynamics and THz Oscillation in antiferromagnets”, which she completed at the Lebanese University - Doctoral School of Science & Technology, in partnership with the Università degli Studi di Messina, Italy.
Esraa addressed two main topics related to "skyrmion" in building modern technology and maintaining information, and to studying the properties of Manganese (II) oxide and its uses in biomedical tissues. Her dissertation was supervised by Prof. Fouad Al-Hajj Hassan with the assistance of Prof. Abbas Hamadeh from the Lebanese University and Prof. Giovanni Finocchio from the University of Messina.
Esraa, who intends to pursue her post-doctoral studies in Europe, holds a Bachelor and a Master’s degrees in physics from the Lebanese University - Faculty of Science. She pursued her doctoral studies under a grant from the Lebanese University, and a grant from the European (ERASMUSPLUS) program, during which she traveled for six months to Spain and gained experience in laboratory work (training on the latest machines).
Esraa believes that the Lebanese University gave her the opportunity as “Outstanding” to pursue her postgraduate studies through the grant she obtained, and provided her with the information necessary to compete and prove herself abroad.
It is noteworthy that Esraa wrote and published a scientific article in “Journal Physica B”, and participated in writing two others articles published in “ChemPhysChem” and “Journal Physical Review B”.
