For the first time in its history, the Lebanese University was listed on 10 June 2020 in the QS World University Rankings, reserving an advanced place among the international universities (701/750) out of +1,600 universities, despite being evaluated for only one year out of five, unlike the universities participating in the ranking for several years.
However, figures for one year were sufficient for the Lebanese University to rank second in Lebanon and 317th internationally in terms of academic reputation, which reflects the confidence of local and international labor markets in its graduates and the certificates they hold.
Since the academic reputation (40%) and the professional reputation (10%) constitute 50% of the rankings, the Lebanese University is proud of the rank obtained after submitting data for one year only.
There is no doubt that the Lebanese University needs to improve several aspects of its performance, the most important of which is the intensification of scientific research relative to the number of Teaching Staff and facilitating the linking of research to scientific research databases in the global network, which will increase the number of citations.
If the university has been able to achieve this rank with one-year data only, it is confident that the results of efforts in the coming years will be positive and will reflect steadily on the QS ranking at the local and international levels.
This new achievement culminates the efforts made by our administration, professors, and students in order to raise the university level in the educational and research fields, and enhance its role in the service of society. We also affirm that we are determined to pursue the path towards more achievements locally and regionally, despite the various challenges we face.
