The Union of Arab Chemists elected Dr. Ali Ibrahim Safa to the position of Assistant Secretary-General of the Union for a period of three years (2019-2022) during the meeting held at the Cabinet Hospitality Center in Baghdad on March 8, 2019.

Dr. Safa was a professor of chemistry at the Lebanese University - Faculty of Sciences from 1991 until he retired in 2017. He obtained his PhD in Chemistry from a US university in 1985; he is the owner of a US patent and has dozens of scientific publications in international scientific journals.
