The embassies of Asian countries in Beirut (Australia, Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines and Sri Lanka), in cooperation with the Lebanese University (LU), organized the “Asian Food Festival”, during which the embassy of each country prepared its traditional foods and displayed some of its famous crafts.

The festival was held at the Rafik Hariri University Compound - Hadath, and attended by Professor Fouad Ayoub, President of the Lebanese University, ambassadors of the participating countries, and a number of LU employees and students.

Professor Ayoub welcomed the distinguished event and the participation of eleven Asian countries to introduce their cultures and civilizations through foods, pictures, crafts and other products. He considered that this festival is an evidence of the relationship and mutual trust between Lebanon and the Asian countries, and reflects the importance of our national university, which has graduates in all countries where they proved their scientific skills, and helped in bringing distances closer.

On behalf of the participating Asian ambassadors, Ms. Rebekah Grindlay, Australian Ambassador to Lebanon, welcomed the LU students and staff and emphasized the consensus of the Asian ambassadors on their appreciation of the strong human, economic and cultural ties between Asian countries.
