15/4/2019 - The Lebanese University – Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences sponsors a ceremony to support the Arabic language in "Wadi Khaled"

 

Under the slogan "My language is my life", the Dean of the Lebanese University – Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences, Professor Ahmad Rabah, sponsored a ceremony in support of the Arabic language in Wadi Khaled – North Lebanon.

 

The ceremony was organized by a group of young people from "Nahdat Al Wadi" in Al Haysha region, in the presence of the Director of the Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences (Branch 3), Dr. Jacqueline Ayoub, representing Dean Rabah, the Head of the Arabic Language Department of the Branch 3, Dr. Bilal Abdel Hadi, the Mufti of Akkar, Sheikh Zaid Bakar Zakaria, the former General Secretary of the Supreme Defense Council, retired Major General Saadallah Hamad, Dr. Ahmed Suleiman, representing MP Muhammad Suleiman, in addition to representatives of several political parties, heads of municipal unions, municipalities, mayors, notables of the Wadi Khaled clans, and directors of high schools and institutes.

 

The opening speech was given by Dr. Jacqueline Ayoub, who indicated that the Faculty has and will spare no effort to preserve and protect the status of the Arabic language, because it means history, heritage, literature, thought, philosophy and civilization.

 

She added: "The Lebanese University, under the leadership of its President, Professor Fouad Ayoub, will spare no effort to give everyone the opportunity to acquire their skills, reach the highest grades and positions, and become true pioneers in their local and national societies".

 

Dr. Abdel Hadi who represented the Arabic Language Department gave a speech, in which he talked about the "tension" that prevails in our relationship with the Arabic language, stressing that it is not necessary to hate other languages, but rather to learn from them and master them, but not at the expense of our beautiful, graceful and ancient Arabic.

 

At the end of the ceremony, students from Bahia Al Hariri High School performed a play entitled "The Arabic Language Between Past and Present" and shields were distributed to the honored professors as well as to Dr. Rabah, Dr. Ayoub and Dr. Abdel Hadi.
