30/4/2019 - The Lebanese University – Faculty of Law, Political & Administrative Sciences (Branch 3) organized a mock trial

The Lebanese University – Faculty of Law, Political & Administrative Sciences (Branch 3), in cooperation with the Tripoli Bar Association, organized a mock trial in the presence of Muhammad Al-Murad, President of the Association, Bilal Harmoush and Zahra Al-Jisr, members of the Association, Judge Ahmad Rami Al-Hajj, Dr. Muhammad Alam El-Din, Director of the Branch, Dr. Jacqueline Ayoub, Director of the Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences (Branch 3), law professors, a number of lawyers, trainee lawyers, law students with their parents, and interested parties.

The Lebanese national anthem opened the event, then Dr. Muhammad Malas delivered a welcome speech in which he stated: " Lebanese University – Faculty of Law, Political & Administrative Sciences (Branch 3), in cooperation with the Tripoli Bar Association, has been used to organizing this unique mock trial at the national level, proof that the Faculty offers its students a great practical margin to apply their theoretical courses, develop their creativity and confront them with the real context of courts. "

He concluded: "The Faculty of Law has taught us that justice is composed of two elements: the judiciary and the legal profession.  The Faculty is the force that helps the justice to triumph, through scientific preparation and good practical training".

Dr. Muhammad Alam El-Din, Director of the Branch gave a speech saying: "Today, the students of the Faculty will present a scene in the service of justice, where the accused is taken to the prosecution cage according to the rules of the court, while the prosecution pleads as a defense, presenting what they have of evidence, legal arguments and logical approaches, making better use of their intellectual and rhetorical skills and abilities.”

He continued: "What we seek at the Faculty is to work on the development of these skills and abilities, especially for those who will serve justice through the field of law and its esteemed Association, which is part of the social life that goes far beyond the question of lectures, initiation, examinations and their results".

Then, the President of the Tripoli Bar Association, Muhammad Al-Murad delivered a speech in which he said: "We believe in the policy of integration, because we are sure that the Association is the arena for the LU law students. Therefore, we will be able to defend together the interests of the Association, the rights of lawyers, law and justice.

He continued: "The scientific applications accompanying the theoretical science have come to prove, by conducting annual or biannual simulated trials, the extent of the commitment to approach the science of law with a practical applied reality, and this important experience will confirm its continuity and the sustainability of its success and effectiveness. In doing so, we are raising our students to where they should be. "

He added: "The mock trial is the result of a deep preparation by the selected student, not only by his personality, knowledge and general culture, but by his perceptive mind through which he can persuade, no matter how strong the rhetoric is, he will fall if it does not match the convincing evidence, solid argumentation and logic, with an available scientific and realistic flow.”

He concluded: "We have made a commitment as a Bar Association to serve the Branch. We want the students to access the Association with their skills, knowledge, seriousness and experience. Therefore, in order to activate this access, we have decided to set up a preparatory training that complements the knowledge acquired at the university, and that proves the seriousness of the students. Thus, in the first weeks, 200 students participated in this training without significant absence and thus demonstrated their willingness to integrate the Association and become competent lawyers. "
