The conference, held in the conference hall of the Rafik Hariri University Compound - Hadath, was accompanied by an exhibition of scientific activities, where various companies presented new technologies, devices and dental tools.

The conference was attended by Minister Pierre Raffoul, representing the President of the Republic, Michel Aoun, MP Kassem Hashem, representing Parliament Speaker, Nabih Berri, MP Assem Araji, representing Prime Minister, Saad Hariri, Professor Fouad Ayoub, President of the Lebanese University, Professor Tony Zeinoun, Dean of the Faculty of Dental Medicine, representatives of the security and military services, representatives of the Order of Dentists in Beirut and the North, in addition to a number of deans, directors, professors, administrators, and interested parties.

During the conference, Professor Tony Zeinoun thanked Professor Fouad Ayoub who worked on Decree No. 3261, which included provisions for the Faculty of Dental Medicine, emphasizing the importance of conducting scientific research and obtaining a doctorate in dental sciences. Then, he highlighted the most important scientific innovations and presented new inventions in oral, maxillofacial and facial medicine, and aspects of clinical and other dental sciences.

Subsequently, Professor Ayoub said that the Faculty of Dental Medicine, in addition to its academic achievements, has become more committed to society and its environment through the successes achieved in the applied work in the clinics that have come to meet the needs of the community, and has strengthened its partnership with relevant medical institutions through concluded agreements. He praised the great confidence that Lebanese dentists have in the Faculty, especially with regard to the permanent participation in the faculty’s activities and conferences.

The President also stressed that the Lebanese University always works on the basis of pioneering progress in all disciplines and always aspires to acquire modern knowledge that is in the national and social interest.

Minister Raffoul considered that this scientific conference shows the close cooperation between the Lebanese University and foreign universities and underlines the importance of broadening horizons and benefiting mutually in the field of research and recent discoveries.

He added: "It is true that the construction and equipment of national schools and universities is the responsibility of the state, but it is your responsibility to maintain their scientific level and raise their academic status. Therefore, your programs must remain in a state of permanent development, as well as periodic meetings to discuss the progress of work, and conferences are therefore the right way to ensure that the Lebanese University keeps pace."

He also stressed the need to work together as political and educational officials to raise the status of the Lebanese University and increase its capabilities, because it is the one who provides equal educational opportunities for Lebanese youth.
