The students, Nelly Akiki, Jana Bassil and Alondra Feghali of the Lebanese University – Faculty of Public Health (3rd year Nursing Sciences, Branch 2) ranked first in the Inter-University Contest on Mediation held from 3-6 May. The contest was organized by the Francophone University Agency (AUF) and the UNESCO in partnership with the Professional Center for Mediation (CPM) at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) and the German organization GIZ, and aimed at promoting the spirit of mediation and peaceful resolution of conflicts.
With the participation of nine different universities, the Lebanese University winning team was distinguished with the good use of mediation tools and nonviolent communication during negotiations and creativity in proposing new and non-traditional solutions to resolve the dispute with the opposing team.
