27/5/2019 - The achievements of the Lebanese University: an undeniable fact

    

 

Success always echoes loud despite all chaos and success is the pillar of the Lebanese University students working under the supervision of their professors in the various specializations and faculties.

 

In a short period, the news of the Lebanese University students were widespread in local and international competitions, achieving undeniable successes.

 

The following is a brief summary of the latest achievements in less than two months:

 

Student Georges Elbeyk of the Faculty of Law and Political and Administrative Sciences won the “Honorable Mention” at the Change the World Model United Nations (CWMUN 2019).

 

The students of the Faculty of Public Health (Alisson Esber, Kinda Haydar, Sany Jabbour, Rita El Khoury, Marie Joe Nakhle, Cherine Zaydan & Nisrine El Akoury) ranked first and second in the 13th edition of the annual poster forum competition (IBDAA) organized by the Nature Conservation Center (NCC) of the American University of Beirut (AUB).

 

The Embassy of France in Beirut classified the project of the student Sally Moussa of the Faculty of Law and Political and Administrative Sciences on "Women’s Rights" as first in Lebanon and the Arab world.

 

The students of the Center for Languages and Translation (Rita Haddad, Michelle Abou Nassif, Jennifer Faour, Lea Nassif) ranked first in the "Translation Festival" organized by Saint Joseph University in Beirut.

 

The team of the Faculty of Information (Jennifer Helou, Morgana Issa, Layal Salem, Joel Dagher and Remy Bou Ghosn) ranked first in the “Unleash Your Creativity” university competition organized by Fernand Hosri Group in the Middle East Training and Conferences Center.

 

The students of the Faculty of Public Health (Nelly Akiki, Jana Bassil and Alondra Feghali) ranked first in the Inter-University Contest on Mediation to promote the spirit of mediation and peaceful resolution of conflicts, organized by the Francophone University Agency (AUF) and the UNESCO, in partnership with the Professional Center for Mediation (CPM) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) and the German organization GIZ.

 

The Middle East Office of the Francophone University Agency (AUF) selected the students Malak Issa and Soha Ibrahim of the Faculty of Pharmacy to spend a month training in the Student Cluster for Innovation, Transfer and Entrepreneurship (PEPITE) after heading the results of the AUF Lebanese Student Entrepreneurship competition (DEEL).

 

The students of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Architecture (Shant Chilingirian, Ranime Zotti, Valeria Mekhjian, Cizel Rabah, Claudia Kiameh) received a Special Recognition from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) following their participation in the Urban Design Competition 2018, during which their project was selected among the five first feasible projects.

 

The students of the Center for Languages and Translation (Etienne Debs, Ghadi Yassine, Sana Zeinddin, Lea Samara, Elie Ziad Al-Mallah, Maya El Chanif, Martine Mardini and Rafic Hobeika) won the top eight places in the "Chinese Bridge" competition held at the Confucius Institute at Saint Joseph University (USJ) and organized by the Embassy of China in Beirut.

 

The student Ibrahim Al Zaim of the Faculty of Pharmacy is representing Lebanon and the University in the Dalai Lama Fellowship Program 2019 (DLF), housed at the University of Virginia’s Contemplative Science Center (CSC University of Virginia).

 

In addition to the student achievements, three professors of the Lebanese University (Prof. Ali Shokr and Prof. Ali Atwi of the Faculty of Sciences and Dr. Jean-Claude Assaf of the Faculty of Engineering) added a new achievement to their scientific and research portfolio and registered an environmental and health scientific patent.

 

Finally yet importantly, the achievements of the Lebanese University students and professors, whether past or future, are a value added to the nation and the society.
