25/6/2019 - The Lebanese University participated in the “Amioun Photo Gallery”

In cooperation with the Lebanese University and the Lebanese-Italian mission to excavate antiquities in the interior regions - North Lebanon and the Municipality of Amioun, the Ministry of Culture - Directorate General of Antiquities (DGA) organized a photo exhibition entitled "Recent Discoveries in Antiquities and Heritage in Amioun", in the conference hall of the municipality.

 

The exhibition aimed at explaining the results of the archaeological exploration campaigns conducted in Amioun since 2017, during which the results of the excavations supervised by Dr. Marco Yamoni from the University of Udine in Italy, and Dr. May Haidar from the Lebanese University - Department of Archeology & Arts, were presented.

 

The event was attended by Mr. Massimo Marotti, Ambassador of Italy and the accompanying delegation, Director of the Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences (Branch 3), Dr. Jacqueline Ayoub, representing the Faculty Dean, Prof. Ahmad Rabah, Mr. Rami Lattouf, representing MP Fayez Ghosn, Eng. Karim Bou Karim, President of the Union of Municipalities of Koura, the Mayor of Bkeftine George Joseph Shoubah, representing former Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Farid Makary, and Director General of Antiquities, Eng. Sarkis El-Khoury, as well as mayors and officials of cultural and social associations.

 

Dr. Jacqueline Ayoub praised the effort made by the Italian mission and the Faculty students who seek to introduce the world to our history, advancement and prosperity, in a way that strengthens Lebanon's position on the global map.

 

The Dean of the Faculty of Human Sciences & Heritage in Italy, Prof. Andrea Zanini, affirmed that the cooperation between the Italian University of Udine and the Lebanese University contributed to illuminating the antiquities and thus the civilization of previous peoples.

 

The Head of the Department of Archeology at UDINE University and representative of the Dean of UDINE University in Italy, Daniele Morandi indicated that the main focus in Lebanon is the preservation, restoration and promotion of archaeological heritage, not only in the cultural field but through the social development of the country.

 

Ambassador Marotti praised the importance of cultural cooperation between Lebanon and Italy and considered that this exhibition reflects the results of the study that took place between the Italian and Lebanese universities and the development that the region can witness.
