Ali Ghandour won the title of the rapid chess tournament held in the library of the Faculty of Science (Branch 5), under the patronage of the branch director, Dr. Wassim Rammal, who awarded the prizes to the winners at the end of the competition.
The tournament, in which 24 students took part, was played on a knockout basis, under the supervision of Ahmad Ayoub, coach in the Sports Activities Department.
Ali Ghandour beat Hassan Sayegh in the final, while Ali Kawtharani took third place at the expense of Ali Hamade (2-1).
In the semi-finals, Sayegh beat Kawtharani (2-1) and Ghandour beat Hamada (2-1).
The quarterfinals saw Kawtharani beat Ali Rammal (2-1), Sayegh beat Ali Salame (3-2), Ghandour eliminated Yassin Wehbi (2-0) and Hamade beat Ali Roumani (2-0).
