The journal PLOS One published a new scientific article by a group of researchers from the Environmental and Occupational Health Microbiology Lab (EOHML) of the Doctoral School for Science & Technology and the Faculty of Public Health at the Lebanese University.
The article deals with a study on the nature of acquired immunity in people who received COVID-19 vaccinations in North Lebanon, by tracking the evolution of the participants' serum antibody levels and the likelihood of contracting the virus.
The study is entitled: “Evaluation of SARS-CoV-2 anti-Spike antibody levels and breakthrough infection risk among vaccinated adults in North Lebanon”.
The results showed that age was a factor associated with lower antibody levels over time, and that the Pfizer vaccine was more effective than the AstraZeneca vaccine.
