
Under the patronage of President Bassam Badran, represented by the Dean of the Faculty of Public Health, Dr. Elie Hadchiti, the Department of Midwifery at the Faculty of Public Health - Branch 1 organized a celebration on the occasion of the International Day of the Midwife under the theme “Midwives in Crisis: Essential Care and a Human Right.”
The ceremony was attended by former Dean of the Faculty of Public Health, Dr. Nina Zeidan, the Director of Branch 1, Dr. Samah Damati, the Head of the Legal Midwifery Department at the Branch, Dr. Iman Kanaan, the President of the Lebanese Order of Midwives, Dr. Rima Cheaito, the former President, Ms. Daad Al-Akoum, and the representative of the Legal Midwifery Department at USJ, Ms. Salima Salame, in addition to representatives of a number of universities, hospitals, medical centers, and international organizations.
Dean Hadchiti delivered a speech in which he stated that legal midwives are not only companions at the moment of birth, but also life partners, health guardians, and builders of the future who contribute effectively to supporting women's and children's health and constitute an indispensable pillar of the national and community health system.
