The Lebanese University, represented by its rector, Dr. Bassam Badran, signed a cooperation agreement with the International Center for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM)/Zaragoza, Spain, represented by the center's director, Dr. Raul Compes Lopez.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the Lebanese University by the Dean of the Faculty of Agronomy, Dr. Nadine Nassif, the Dean of the Faculty of Sciences, Dr. Ali Kanj, and several advisors to the university's president. On behalf of CIHEAM, the Chair of the Board of Directors, Ms. Frida Krifca, the Vice-Chair and representative of Lebanon, former Minister Wafaa Dika, as well as the directors of several branches of the center and its administrative staff were present.

The agreement aims to support and strengthen cooperation between the Faculty of Agronomy and CIHEAM in the field of education, the exchange of professors and the hosting of master's students as part of the center's scientific programs, as well as to promote joint research in the fields of agriculture, water, the environment, the food industry, and plant and animal production, particularly in the context of climate challenges.

This agreement paves the way for cooperation between the two parties in a number of joint activities within European projects such as ERASMUS+ and PRIMA, the creation of a double degree, and the guarantee of training opportunities for students.

President Badran welcomed the signing of this agreement, addressing the CHEAM delegation to highlight the reality of the Lebanese University, the excellence of its students and its global ranking, as well as its importance as the only public university in Lebanon with more than 70,000 students.
