Cooperation Agreement Between the Lebanese University and AUST
The Lebanese University, represented by its President Dr. Bassam Badran, signed a cooperation agreement with the American University of Science and Technology (AUST), represented by its President Dr. Riad Sakr.
The signing ceremony, which took place at the Central Administration Building – Museum, was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Sciences, Dr. Ali Kanj; the Coordinator of the Office of External Relations, Dr. Veronique Kaspard; and the Advisor to the University President, Dr. Ali Rammal.
Prior to the signing, President Badran spoke, emphasizing the importance of cooperation with AUST, which complements previous agreements, and affirming that both parties have a shared interest in joint and collective work.
President Badran noted that this agreement will build upon what was previously agreed upon but could not be implemented due to the circumstances the country has faced in recent years.
For his part, Dr. Sakr emphasized that the Lebanese University brings together Lebanon’s elite, particularly in the field of scientific research, noting that cooperation with the National University spans multiple levels, most notably collaboration with its Faculty of Public Health.
Dr. Sakr highlighted the high caliber of Lebanese University graduates and their excellence in graduate studies.
The agreement (valid for 4 years) includes:
1. Facilitating collaboration among faculty members in the field of scientific research and the supervision of master’s theses and dissertations
2. Facilitating student exchanges between the two universities, particularly for master’s students, provided they meet the requirements in effect at the host university
3. Organizing conferences, seminars, scientific meetings, joint workshops, and training courses in shared fields, with the aim of leveraging the scientific expertise of both universities
4. Encouraging scientific research on topics of mutual interest
5. Exchanging studies and research findings within available capabilities
6. Facilitating access to the libraries at both universities for graduate students and faculty researchers
