Student Christine Saloum represents Lebanon in the International Edition of “Chinese Language Bridge”
Christine Charbel Salloum, a graduate of the Center for Languages & Translation, won first place in the preliminary rounds of the 25th edition of the “Chinese Language Bridge” competition for university students in Lebanon and will represent Lebanon in the international edition of the competition.
Students and graduates of the CLT also achieved outstanding results, as follows:
Second Place: Nur Olleik and Marilynn Sebaali
Third Place: Gaelle El Khawly and Jinane Awad
Fourth Place: Diana Faour, Daniel Moussa, Caren Daou, and Theresia Douaihy
USJ - Beirut hosted the preliminary rounds of the international competition in the presence of the Chinese Ambassador to Lebanon, Chen Chuandong; Director General of the Ministry of Culture, Dr. Ali Samad; President of USJ, Dr. François BOËDEC, s.j.; Dean of the Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences at the Lebanese University, Dr. Soha Samad; CLT Director, Dr. Layal Merhi; Director of Confucius Institute, Dr. Nisrine Abdel Nour Lattouf; Heads of the Chinese language departments at the participating universities; and students majoring in Chinese. Dr. Bilal Abdul Hadi participated in the judging panel as a representative of the FLHS at the Lebanese University.
The Chinese ambassador noted that the Chinese language serves as a bridge to understanding China and strengthening friendship between nations, emphasizing that mutual respect and harmonious coexistence among civilizations represent a shared goal for Lebanon and China.
It should be noted that the competition covered various areas, including Chinese language proficiency, Chinese culture, knowledge about China, and artistic skills.
