Dr. Khaled Tadmori of the FFAA - Branch 3 receives Turkish Excellence Award
Dr. Khalid Tadmori, a professor, architect, and researcher at the Faculty of Fine Arts & Architecture – Branch 3, received the Excellence Award in the “Culture & Arts” category during a ceremony honoring seven distinguished alumni of Turkish universities.
The ceremony was organized by the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) and the Union of Turkish University Alumni Associations Worldwide (Türkiye Alumni) in the Turkish capital, Ankara, and was attended by prominent political, ministerial, and diplomatic figures, as well as students from around the world. A total of 700 students who completed their university studies this year with scholarships from the Turkish government graduated from 208 universities across the country.
Ambassador Elko Koça Ava, Director of Cultural and Media Affairs at the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, presented Dr. Tadmuri with the Award of Excellence in the “Culture and Arts” category, praising his contributions to cultural exchange between the two countries and commending his documentation and revitalization of Ottoman architectural landmarks in the Arab world.
Dr. Tadmori is an academic researcher specializing in the documentation of Islamic architecture, heritage and arts. He chaired the Committee on Antiquities and Heritage at the Tripoli Municipality for 21 years and was a member of the Lebanese National Commission for UNESCO. He also collaborated with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) to restore and revitalize a large number of Ottoman buildings in Lebanon and the Arab world. He published dozens of books and research papers and organized cultural and artistic exhibitions focusing on shared Islamic and Ottoman heritage in the Arab world, Lebanon, and Turkey.
