One-Year Free Subscription to Global EBSCO Databases for Professors and Students

In a qualitative move that reaffirms its commitment to advancing scientific research system and enhancing quality of higher education, the Lebanese University has successfully secured a full one-year free subscription to the global academic databases of EBSCO Information Services. This initiative enables professors and students to access one of the world’s largest platforms for scientific and research references—without any financial burden on the university. This achievement stems from a meeting held between President Bassam Badran and a delegation from EBSCO Information Services that included: Ali Abdullah, Vice President for Sales – MENA (Arab World) and Khalaf Al-Assaf, Regional Sales Manager – West Asia (Lebanon, Jordan, Qatar, Bahrain, and the UAE).

During the meeting, discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between the Lebanese University and EBSCO in supporting scientific research and developing digital academic resources. It was agreed that professors and students of the Lebanese University would enjoy free access—until 30 June 2027—to a wide range of global databases containing thousands of peer‑reviewed journals, e‑books, and millions of scientific studies and research outputs from leading international publishers and academic institutions, without any financial commitment from the university during this period.

President Badran emphasized that this achievement aligns with the university’s vision of providing its academic community with the best scientific resources, noting that research is the cornerstone of higher education development and of the university’s role in producing knowledge and serving society. He added that access to these global platforms will provide researchers and students with the latest scientific references, thereby improving the quality of published research, encouraging innovation, and strengthening the Lebanese University’s presence in international academic rankings and indicators.

EBSCO delegation praised the Lebanese University’s vision and dedication to advancing scientific research, reaffirming the company’s commitment to supporting academic institutions and empowering researchers and students with access to global knowledge, thereby enhancing the quality of education, research, and innovation.

The Presidency of the Lebanese University calls on all faculty, researchers, and students to make the most of this pioneering initiative, which represents a significant step forward in the university journey toward building a more advanced and open research environment, and consolidating its position as Lebanon’s largest national institution for knowledge production and scientific research.
