The Scientific Center for Manufacturing and Production organizes the 5th Ideas Fair in cooperation with the Lebanese University
The Scientific Center for Manufacturing and Production organized the 5th Ideas Fair at the headquarters of the Union of Arab Chambers, under the patronage of the Ministers of Industry and Labor and the Union of Arab Chambers, and in cooperation with the Lebanese University, the AUF and the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Tripoli and the North.
The fair was attended by Mrs. Chantal Akl, Director General of the Ministry of Industry, representing the Minister of Industry, Dr. Bassam Badran, President of the Lebanese University, Dr. Daoud Nawfal, President of the Scientific Center for Manufacturing and Production, Dr. Tamara Al Zein, representing the National Council for Scientific Research, in addition to representatives of military and security agencies, chambers of commerce and industry from the Arab world, and young participants who submitted scientific and research ideas.
President Bassam Badran delivered a speech in which he stressed that one of the most important objectives launched by the Lebanese University in its 2024 strategy is to strengthen partnerships with the production sectors and become a productive university, noting that it has already begun to develop and establish several projects in the fields of health and industrial production, all of which aim to actively participate in developing students' capabilities and stimulating their creative energies.
He added: "The Lebanese University is a reservoir for the production of emerging projects and the upgrading of the socio-economic space. In addition to its academic, research and cultural tasks, it is called upon to increase its contributions in various fields and to strengthen economic and social capacities in the difficult circumstances our dear country is going through."
President Badran reiterated the appeal to research centers and professors at the Lebanese University to activate research work and steer students towards scientific research that corresponds to the pressing needs of Lebanese society.
He also stressed that startups based on the knowledge-based economic model are an opportunity for economic progress and a way out of the crises facing Lebanon. Many startups have succeeded in achieving economic recovery, creating wealth and added value, supporting the economies of several countries, creating new employment opportunities, providing solutions to the unemployment crisis and the unproductive overload of the public sector, as well as limiting the brain drain.
Finally, President Badran called for the adoption of policies to encourage and support the elites who abound in the Lebanese University to settle in their country of origin and invest their creative energies there.
