Exhibitions of fine arts and architecture at the FFAA - Branch 3 to mark its founding anniversary
Under the patronage and presence of President Bassam Badran, and to mark the 44th anniversary of the branch’s founding, the Faculty of Fine Arts & Architecture — Branch 3 organized the “Visual Forum for Arts and Architecture,” which included the opening of the museum of “The Ten Artists”, an art exhibition of "The Ten Artists", an exhibition of paintings by faculty artists, and an exhibition of works by students in advertising arts, fine arts, murals, architecture, interior design, and monument restoration.
The opening was attended by the faculty Dean, Dr. Hisham Zeineddine, the FLHS Dean, Dr. Soha El Samad, the head of the Order of Engineers & Architects in Tripoli, Engineer Chawki Fatfat, former Minister Dr. Lamia Yamine, and the FFAA directors of Branches 3 and 2, Dr. Issam Obeid and Engineer Bernard Ghoussoub , and Dr. Antoine Charbel, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the League of Full-Time Professors at the Lebanese University, in addition to a number of branch directors in the North, including Dr. Ali Rammal, Dr. Bilal Baraka, and Dr. Hassan Zeineddine, as well as a large gathering of artists, professors, and students.
Dr. Obeid delivered a speech in which he emphasized that one of the reasons for the success of the ten artists’ visual art experiment is their commitment to sound artistic principles and their openness to contemporary artistic experiments, far removed from tradition and monotony.
Dr. Obeid noted that the group of ten artists formed the fundamental and distinctive core of the visual arts movement in the city of Tripoli and northern Lebanon, and that their influence and presence have expanded throughout Lebanon and reached the Arab and global spheres. It was from this group that the idea of establishing a Tripoli branch of the Lebanese University’s Institute of Arts originated.
Dr. Obeid reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining the quality of education and working to open new pathways that meet the needs of the job market and contribute to the country’s scientific and economic renaissance.
Dean Zeineddine emphasized that the FFAA takes pride in the “Ten Artists” and in all the distinguished figures—students, professors, and staff—who have passed through its halls, noting that the excellence and distinction the faculty has historically achieved—and continues to achieve—was no coincidence, but rather is owed to those creative professors who dedicated their lives to thought and beauty and put it into practice in their studios, classrooms, and exhibitions.
President Badran then began his speech by extending his greetings and gratitude to the group of ten artists present, whose works, ideas, emotions, and dreams are on display in the faculty exhibitions.
President Badran noted that the exhibition goes beyond the idea of a tribute to serve as a cultural hub that offers visitors the opportunity to interpret and understand history and forge artistic, cultural, and social connections, in addition to fostering critical thinking and stimulating imagination and creativity.
President Badran concluded by saying: “Artists are a precious treasure that enriches our national heritage, and they deserve appreciation, respect, and lasting recognition.”
