 Description de la formation :

The Radiologic Sciences Department aims at teaching, training and graduating high standard professionals in medical radiation; diagnostic radiography and nuclear medicine. The department also provides clinical and consultancy services to Medical Radiological centers in quality assurance, protocol development, and radiation protection.

 

Radiologic Sciences (RS) graduates will have the knowledge, skills and expertise to make them the backbone of activities performed in Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine departments in hospitals and clinics. RS professionals play an essential role in producing quality images of the human body internal organs and systems using ionizing and non-ionising radiation for the purpose of diagnosing and treating various pathologies. They produce anatomo-structural and/or functional diagnostic images of using several imaging modalities e.g. projection x-radiography (film-based, computed, direct digital), computed tomography (CT), fluorography, ultrasonography (US), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), gamma camera, single-photon emission tomography (SPET), positron-emission tomography (PET), hybrid PET-CT and PET-MRI imaging systems. They can also perform quality control tests to check equipment performance.

Débouchés :

The scope of practice is defined as the legally-permitted field of professional activities and legally-required professional competence. The profession allows performing the following activities:

Executing the referring-physician prescription for patient imaging

Applying radiation protection measures properly vis-à-vis the patient, staff, public

Acting as application specialist or sales representative

 

Performing routine quality control tests on imaging systems
