The two students, Karim Reda and Kamar Ghandour of the Lebanese University, qualified for the finals of the “Huawei ICT Competition Middle East 2019-2020”, which will be held in the Shenzhen, China on 30 November 2019.
Three winners were selected for the finals among 25 participants who passed the preliminary qualifications that included participants from 14 universities in Lebanon. The winners are student Kamar Ghandour (graduate of the Faculty of Engineering, Branch 3 - CCE - class of 2019), student Karim Reda (Faculty of Engineering – Branch 3 – 4th year Electrical Engineering) and student Rami Al-Qadri from the AUST University.
Huawei aims through the competition, to discover and nurture distinguished talents in the Middle East and work with the relevant and competent authorities to sharpen their skills and prepare them to lead the future of technology in their countries and exploit digitization to advance the path of social and economic development.
Engineer Noha Akiki (lecturer engineer at the Faculty of Engineering, Branch 3) indicated that the Lebanese University students are proving their ability to compete in the field of technology not only at the level of the Middle East, but also at the global level. It is noteworthy that the Lebanese University students Hussein Shito, Osama Kandakji and Ahmed Hijazi ranked first in the same competition held in 2017 in the Middle East and third globally.
