Centre MINE: Grant Writing Seminar - Organizational Infrastructure and Successful Individual Practices
2247

The faculty/staff of the Lebanese University are invited to join Centre MINE seminar organized by HECD, “Grant Writing Seminar: Organizational Infrastructure and Successful Individual Practices” which is scheduled on Thursday 8th October 2020 at 3:00 pm Beirut time.

Creating a resilient support infrastructure for grant development and administration is essential to expand research and development in universities. Successful research universities establish an environment that encourages and supports faculty with applying for grants and contracts, steward sponsored funding in accordance with regulatory requirements and administration, and successfully complete/close projects. Seeking external funding is essential for universities and faculty to supplement existing revenues and to meet their research, teaching, and service goals. Indeed, the premise of the Grant Writing seminar is that strong support systems can be designed and created to serve the local needs of participating universities and faculty members.

The seminar will be facilitated by FSU STTA Mr. Rabieh Razzouk:

Rabieh Razzouk joined Florida State University (FSU) in 2003 and he is the Associate Director of the Learning Systems Institute (LSI). In his role, he established a grant support system for one of the largest and most successful research institutes in Florida. He has helped develop more than 500 grant proposals and managed hundreds of projects at the institute. As a faculty member, he has been awarded more than 70 large-scale grants with him as the principal investigator during the last ten years. His proposal success rate is 98%. Razzouk is a Lebanese American who completed his undergraduate studies at the Lebanese American University and his graduate studies at Purdue University.

The seminar agenda is as follows:

An overview of the key university systems and processes that are essential for supporting sponsored programs.

Key practices and habits followed by a successful grant writer during identifying research focus, locating opportunities, developing plans, writing proposals, and managing the grant from start to success and beyond.
