The Lebanese University awarded the first PhD in Physiotherapy with "very honorable" distinction to Joy Khayat, following the dissertation she submitted on "The Key Results of Mental Arithmetic Effect on The Brain and Motor Activity".
Within the framework of the cooperation agreement between the Lebanese University - Doctoral School of Science & Technology and Claude Bernard University Lyon 1, Khayat discussed her dissertation in France under the supervision of Prof. Ahmed Al-Rifai and the assistance of Prof. Ahmed Diab of the Lebanese University and Prof. Patrick Fargier of Claude Bernard University Lyon 1.
The examining committee was chaired by Prof. Mohamed Khalil (Lebanese University), with the membership of Prof. Samer Mohamed (Université Paris-Est Créteil), Prof. Catherine Marque (Université de Technologie de Compiègne), Prof. Sandy Rihana (University of the Holy Spirit - Kaslik) and Prof. Emma Guillet (Claude Bernard University Lyon 1).
Joy finished her Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy at the Saint Joseph University in Beirut and completed both her Master and PhD degrees at the Lebanese University. She says that the basis of physiotherapy is the art of thinking to interact with the patient and assist in decreasing the treatment period.
Joy adds: "At the Lebanese University, I was introduced to the other perspective with which I see the patient. Despite all difficulties, there is a real opportunity for excellence and success at the Lebanese University given to those who have the will and are dedicated to their education and career..."
