A group of students from the Lebanese University - Faculty of Information (Branches 1 & 2) completed a training organized by Thomson Reuters Foundation in cooperation with the UNDP “Peace Building in Lebanon” project funded by the German Embassy in Beirut.

The training, exclusive to the Lebanese University students, was given to the Journalism Department at the Faculty of Information. The students were introduced to a set of media tools to implement the Charter of Journalists in order to "promote a culture of peace during conflicts", namely the journalist role in promoting social cohesion, peacebuilding and telling the truth during field coverage.

During the two-day workshop held on 28-29 November 2019, a detailed explanation was given on the standards adopted by Reuters in its journalistic work and the possibility of their implementation in practicing the profession of journalism in Lebanon.

The students participating in the training considered that the implementation of the charter is the best practice for conflict mitigation and peacebuilding in light of the circumstances witnessed in the country.
