Ghia Mtayrek (Islamic University) and Peter Khoury (American University of Beirut - AUB) won the “Lebanese Universities Cross Country”, organized by the Sports Activity Department at the Lebanese University in cooperation with the Lebanese Federation of University Sport Committee.
The competition, which took place with the participation of about 70 runners from 7 universities and participants from the Internal Security Forces team and a number of clubs, was organized on a track within the Rafik Hariri University Compound – Hadath, starting from the athletics track in the Sports Complex with a distance of 4 Kilometers for females and 6.5 kilometers for males.
Mtayrek recorded a duration of 15.59 minutes, ahead of Marina Fenianos (AUB - 16,28.5 minutes) and Hiba Aynani (AUB - 16,52.04 minutes), while Marie Hajij (Lebanese University – 17,42.1 minutes) finished fourth, and Nour Shanuha (AUB - 18.03.7 minutes) fifth.
Peter Khoury recorded a duration of 21,00,1 at a distance of 6.5 km, followed by Ali Mortada (Lebanese University - 21,59,2 minutes), Hanna Lakkis (University of Balamand - 22,18,4 minutes), Haydar Allawi (LIU - 22.49.3 minutes) and Charbel Merheb (Lebanese University - 23.46.6 minutes).
The winners were awarded by members of the organizing committee presented by the Officer in charge of sports activities at the Lebanese University (Branches 1), the LU representative in the Federation of Universities Youssef Al-Zein, Saleh Zeaiter (Race Director), Ahmed Hazer, Amira Yaghi, Hassan Abu Khodr and Hussein Issa.
