The Lebanese Information Technology Association (LITA), in cooperation with the Lebanese University - Doctoral School of Law, Political, Administrative & Economic Sciences, organized a seminar on “Protecting the Future - Building a National Strategy for Cybersecurity”, under the patronage of the Minister of State for Information Technology, Adel Afiouni.
The seminar was held at the building of the Doctoral School and attended by MP Nadim Gemayel, Chairman of the Information and Technology Parliamentary Committee, Ambassador Abdel Rahman Solh, Arab League Representative, Prof. Fouad Ayoub, President of the Lebanese University, Dr. Antoine Atallah, Dean of the Doctoral School, in addition to judicial and academic figures, lawyers and representatives from the public and private sectors and civil society.
Professor Ayoub pointed out that the Lebanese University worked, in cooperation with several bodies in the public and private sectors, to formulate a number of activities and formulate some projects that fall within the framework of cybersecurity. It has also established a university diploma in cybersecurity, with which professors and alumni have occupied advanced ranks in regional and international bodies working in this field.
Dr. Antoine Atallah stressed the importance of activating the National Cybersecurity Strategy, which Lebanon relies on in its endeavor to enhance national security in general and electronic in particular, affirming the Doctoral School commitment to its social, national and academic role in cooperation with civil society to achieve cybersecurity.
The Advisor to Prime Minister Saad Hariri, Ms. Lina Oueidat headed the seminar, which witnessed the participation of Mr. Youssef Al-Sebaawi, Representative of Arab Center of Legal and Judicial Studies of the Arab League, Ayman Elsherbiny, representative of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia, Mrs. Mona Al-achkar Jabbour, LITA President and Dr. Ziad Sakr.
