The international journal “Diabetology & Metabolic Syndrome” published a scientific article submitted by a team of researchers at the Faculty of Public Health entitled: “Diagnostic accuracy of the Finnish Diabetes Risk Score for the prediction of undiagnosed type 2 diabetes, prediabetes, and metabolic syndrome in the Lebanese University”.
The study, funded by the Lebanese University, aimed to evaluate a statistical model “Model FINDRISC” to identify individuals at risk of developing “undiagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus” or those at risk of developing metabolic syndrome. This model is considered a simple, quick, and inexpensive test that does not require a blood test.
The research team consisted of professors from the Faculty of Public Health (Branch 1), including, Dr. Maher Abdallah, Dr. Zeina Daher, Dr. Tarek Faour, and Dr. Mohammad Hnaino, in addition to the Faculty graduates Safa and Marwa Sharbaji (Master in Nutrition) and the Faculty employee Zainab Mansour.
It is noteworthy that the statistical model experiments were applied to professors and employees from the Lebanese University from various faculties and regions.
