20/4/2019 - The Faculty of Law, Political & Administrative Sciences organized the Arab Moot Court Competition

 

Under the patronage of Prime Minister Saad Hariri, represented by Dr. Mustafa Alloush, the Lebanese University - Faculty of Law, Political & Administrative Sciences (Branch 3) organized the “Arab Moot Court Competition” in its 6th edition (2019), which took place from 16-18 April 2019 with the participation of 18 teams from law schools in 14 Arab countries.

 

Dr. Kamil Habib, Faculty Dean called for strengthening academic and university cooperation between the various law schools in the Arab world, addressing special greeting to Palestine through its delegation from Birzeit University.

 

Former Kuwaiti Minister, Dr. Youssef Al-Ali delivered the speech of the Kuwait International Law School, praising the Lebanese University and the level of organization and preparation for this event, and called for such events which aim to provide an opportunity for Arab youth to meet and exchange ideas and experiences academically and legally.

 

Mr. Mohammed Al-Murad, Head of Tripoli Bar Association, stressed the need for the law to be an entry point to start the process of fighting corruption.

 

Dr. Mohammad Alamuddin, Faculty Director, stressed the need to remove all barriers separating the Arab people as an introduction to a creative Arab Spring entitled "The Rule of Law and Sovereignty of Justice”.

 

Professor Hana Al-Ibrahim delivered the speech of the administrative and executive center of the competition, who praised the high organizational level, especially since it is the first time that the number of participants has reached 18 teams from 14 Arab countries from the Gulf to the Arab Maghreb countries.

 

Prime Minister Hariri's speech was delivered by Dr. Alloush, who stressed the importance of laws through which justice is created as a pillar to personal and societal freedom.

 

After the opening session, the competition began between the participating teams for two days, where four teams qualified for the semi-finals, namely the Islamic University of Lebanon, the University of Baghdad, the Lebanese University and Birzeit University.

 

At the end of the competition, the Supreme Arbitration Committee announced that Birzeit University team ranked first followed by the team of the Faculty of Law, Political & Administrative Sciences, after being qualified for the finals.
