“GET Environmental Club” was established in the Lebanese University - Faculty of Public Health (Branch 3) in April 2019, and was joined later on by volunteers from the Faculty of Science (Branch 3).
The objectives of the club stem from the importance of enabling community members to deal with environmental and health risks by spreading awareness and knowledge, in addition to promoting belonging to the land and supporting individual initiatives.
The club’s founding body consists of:
Student Fadila Al Yassin (Director), 1st year Master in Health & Environment, Faculty of Public Health (Branch 3), holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the Faculty of Science (Branch 3);
Student Hoda Massoul (Administrative Officer), 1st year Master in Health & Environment, Faculty of Public Health (Branch 3), holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the Faculty of Science (Branch 3);
Student Qamar El-Hajj (Education & Training), holder of Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences, Lebanese International University.
Through volunteers from both faculties, GET participated in cleaning the northern shore in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, carried out a series of health awareness campaigns on "beneficial bacteria", and supported plastic collection initiatives organized at the Faculty of Science (Branch 3).
The club launched a series of health awareness and educational programs relating to the scientific dimensions of certain general concepts and programs, which highlight the common traditions related to the immune system, and offered solutions to strengthen and protect the immune system.
With COVID-19 outreach and the quarantine, the Club launched the initiative "Advice from Home", aiming to encourage others to contribute from home by providing and communicating useful advice or information through a video of no more than a minute.
In addition to the various environmental and recreational activities and awareness campaigns organized throughout the year, the club created social media pages on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, and may be reached on the following email getenvironmentalclub@gmail.com
