The Lebanese University – Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences organized the “Arab Scientific Conference: Human Sciences & Reconstructing National Culture” on 19-21 November 2019. The conference was headed by Dr. Ahmad Rabah, Faculty Dean, and coordinated by Dr. Ghassan Mrad and Dr. Maha Jarjour of the Lebanese University.
The conference constituted a national platform to discuss the reality of the national culture in its various fields of manifestation, in a national dialogue that included all fields (intellectual, social, psychological, legal, development etc.).
The conference aimed at:
- Defining the concept of national culture, highlighting its reality, and the role of the Lebanese University in general, and the Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences, in particular, in rebuilding and developing national culture, on both concept and practice levels;
- Developing a vision for a common national culture invested in creating cultural content, in all its forms (paper and digital, etc.), and publishing it in (traditional and digital) media, as well as in legal, educational and educational speeches, reshaping the national culture of the individual that develops his belonging to his homeland and enables him to preserve his being. This content shall be relied upon in state institutions, and is fit to be one of the engines of development, and an essential element of openness to the other at home and abroad.
The conference was divided into 5 themes: (Epistemological) Approaches in the Lebanese National Culture; Human Sciences, National Culture & Development; National culture, National Identity & the Promotion of Belonging; National Culture & its Transformations in Foreign Countries, and Technologies and their Role in Collecting, Storing & Disseminating National Culture.
