The FFAA launches “Pulse of University” podcast with President Badran as guest speaker
The Faculty of Fine Arts & Architecture – Branch 3 launched the podcast platform “Nabad Al Jamiaa" (Pulse of University) and hosted President Dr. Bassam Badran in its first episode.
The opening ceremony for the platform and its studio was attended by President Badran, Director of the FFAA - Branch 3, Dr. Issam Obeid, Branch teaching staff representative Dr. Amal Ghaleb, Secretary Ms. Marcele Feghali, Dr. Bilal Baraka, and Dr. Ali Rammal, in addition to department chairs and a group of faculty members and students.
The platform aims to encourage student talent across the various faculties and institutes to produce meaningful media content that addresses issues concerning the nation, youth, and the university.
During the interview, conducted by student Ranim Totonji and directed by Mr. Mohammed Totonji, President Badran spoke about his journey at the Lebanese University, which began as a student, then as director of a research center, then as dean of the Faculty of Science, and finally as president.
President Badran highlighted the importance of scientific research and output at the Lebanese University, particularly through publication and community service in the areas of health, the environment, and humanitarian, social, and human rights support.
President Badran noted that a significant portion of the Lebanese University’s standing in global rankings is based on indicators of scientific research and collaboration with international laboratories.
Regarding curricula, President Badran noted that the university’s curricula are dynamic and keep pace with technological developments to ensure the largest number of graduates and supply the job market with the required skills and expertise, noting in this context that the university’s professional reputation is very high.
He explained that the war conditions prevented the holding of student council elections, but the university will resume organizing them when circumstances permit.
Regarding the “House of National Dialogue” initiative launched by the Lebanese University, President Badran noted that it was designed to alleviate the tension and unrest in the country, expressing hope that it would be adopted by various universities and across the nation.
In conclusion, President Badran stated that the podcast represents a qualitative leap for the FFAA and a significant effort for which students and professors deserve credit for showcasing the university’s true and realistic image and countering all campaigns directed against it.
