The Lebanese University - Faculty of Engineering (Branch 1) hosted the “Exhibition of Russian Universities in Lebanon”, with the participation of 20 Russian universities, including specializations in engineering, medicine, human sciences, arts, science, petroleum and others.

The opening ceremony was attended by Vadim Zaychikov, Head of the Russian Cultural Center in Lebanon, Dr. Adel Hallak, Director of the Faculty of Engineering (Branch 1), Dr. Georges Al Sissi, President of the Graduates Association of the Universities and Institutes of the Soviet Union in North Lebanon, Dr. Alexei Bukov, Dean of Foreign Student Admission at Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, in addition to professors, university students, and public and private high school students.

The attendees toured the exhibition and listened to explanations from representatives of Russian universities on how to obtain educational scholarships in various specializations and degrees.

Dr. Hallak noted the specializations available in the participating universities, which allow Lebanese students to pursue their specializations in various fields that have become important for the local market in Lebanon and the region.

Mr. Zaychikov explained the method to apply for scholarships in Russia, pointing out that the exhibition represented 20 of the most prestigious universities in Russia, covering 250 university majors, from which graduates won 4 Nobel prizes in physics, mathematics, and others.

Dr. Al Sissi praised the importance of this exhibition, which is being held for the first time in Tripoli, noting that the number of Lebanese graduates from Russia is increasing and they occupy academic and scientific positions, including MPs, ministers, and first-rank employees, in addition to doctors, engineers and businessmen.

Dr. Bukov indicated that the exhibition is an opportunity to learn about the potentials of the higher education system in Lebanon and find concrete and practical areas for fruitful cooperation between Russia and Lebanon. He pointed out that the recent years have witnessed more joint research groups and an increase in the number of students and professors participating in academic exchange programs and in the number of published joint scientific works and academic scientific projects.
