The Microbiology, Health and Environment Laboratory (LMSE) of the Lebanese University - Doctoral School of Science & Technology and Faculty of Public Health was listed on 1 June 2020, among the laboratories approved by the Ministry of Health to carry out COVID-19 testing. LMSE has already started publishing the first results of the samples sent by the Ministry.
The laboratory was approved by the Ministry after assessing the technical and technological capacities available and the level of public safety to be considered by the medical labs responsible for carrying out such tests.
It is noteworthy that LMSE has a Biosafety Level 2 (+) ensuring the protection of employees, surrounding environment, and the highly qualified technical team.
In coordination with the Ministry, LMSE is cooperating with Orange Nassau Hospital in Tripoli, specialized in obstetrics and kidney disease, to carry out COVID-19 tests to suspected cases.
As part of the COVID-19 management plan developed by the Municipality of Tripoli, LMSE was accredited by the Municipality's Disaster Management Authority to carry out and analyze COVID-19 tests, and report the results to relevant authorities.
