The Lebanese University has registered two French and international patents related to the development of non-combustible fibers in an environmentally friendly manner, as part of joint research with the French University of Lorraine and the Faculty of Engineering in the French city of Alès (IMT-Alès).
The new scientific achievement research was started in 2018 with Professor Roland Hajj from the Faculty of Science at the Lebanese University and former student Maria Moussa, and then completed with student Karina Antoun who is preparing her doctoral dissertation at the Doctoral School of Science & Technology (DSST) and the French University of Lorraine under the supervision of Professor Hajj and Professor Michel Nakhal/Assistant Supervisor from the Lebanese University, Professor Nicolas Bruce from the University of Lorraine, and Dr. Rodolphe Saunier from (IMT-Alès).
This technology will allow the manufacture of wooden panels or insulators through a steam explosion and modify them to become non-flammable in an easy and environmentally friendly manner.
