The Lebanese University participates in ICAR 2026 conference at Mohammed V University in Rabat
Dr. Nahed Msayleb, from the Department of Environmental Engineering in the Faculty of Agronomy, participated in the fifth edition of the International Scientific Conference on African Rivers (ICAR 2026), hosted by the Faculty of Sciences at Mohammed V University in Rabat from 6 to 11 July 2026.
At the conference, Dr. Msayleb presented a research study conducted at the Lebanese University on the use of a type of marine algae, Sargassum vulgare—which grows on the shores of Lebanon—for wastewater treatment.
Dr. Msayleb is participating in the scientific framework of the OMELI – Ghar El Melh initiative in Tunisia, which focuses on ecohydrology under UNESCO International Hydrological Program (UNESCO Ecohydrology – IHP) and emphasizes the sustainable management of aquatic ecosystems and nature-based solutions.
This initiative aligns with the scientific priorities pursued by the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development and its partners in the Mediterranean region, particularly in the areas of water quality, protection of aquatic ecosystems, and promotion of nature-based solutions.
