Vivian Ghazal/2nd year Chinese language student at the Centre for Languages & Translation (CLT), won first prize in the 23rd edition of the "Chinese Proficiency" competition, which was held in Beirut on 18 May 2024.

Nour Aleik and Flore Stello, 2nd year Chinese students at CLT, also won third prize.

13 Lebanese students took part in the competition, organized by the Chinese Embassy in Lebanon and the Confucius Institute of Saint Joseph University in Beirut. Students from the Lebanese University won the first and third prizes under the supervision of the CLT Chinese teacher, Mr. Li Xindi.

The Chinese ambassador to Lebanon, Mr. Qian Minjian, hailed the competition as a cultural bridge that strengthens friendship between China and the world, and helps to showcase the charm of Chinese language and culture.
