The LU advances nearly 100 spots globally in the THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026

The Lebanese University has achieved a new milestone in the Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026, rising from the 301–400 range globally in the 2025 edition to the 201–300 range globally in the 2026 edition—a rise of nearly 100 spots globally, a move that reflects continuous improvement in its performance and strengthens its standing among global universities in the fields of sustainability and the achievement of the SDGs. This achievement is particularly significant given that 1,646 universities from 116 countries around the world participated in the 2026 edition of the rankings, highlighting the intensity of international competition.

The university also recorded notable progress at the national level across a number of ranking indicators, rising to 1st place among Lebanese universities in “Reducing Inequalities” indicator, having advanced from 95th globally in 2025 to 70th globally in 2026, with its score rising from 77.2 to 79.8.

In the “Equal Opportunities” indicator, the university made a significant leap at the local level, moving from 5th place among Lebanese universities in 2025 to 1st place in 2026, while maintaining its 53rd place globally with a score of 71.1.

The university also maintained its outstanding performance in “Quality of Education” indicator, ranking 2nd among Lebanese universities and 59th globally with a score of 79.2, underscoring its unwavering commitment to providing high-quality education, promoting equal opportunities, and upholding the principles of justice and inclusivity.

This achievement reflects the university’s ongoing efforts to improve quality of education, advance scientific research, serve community, and foster a culture of sustainability in accordance with the highest international standards, in line with its national mission and its role in contributing to the achievement of SDGs.

The Presidency affirms that this progress serves as an incentive to continue developing academic, research, and institutional performance, to strengthen national and international partnerships, and to solidify the university’s position in global rankings, thereby reflecting its status as a leading national university that continues to fulfill its mission in the service of society and development.
