Launch of the Initiative: The Lebanese University – Home of National Dialogue
At the invitation of President Bassam Badran, a meeting was held bringing together various student groups at the university to discuss the challenges facing Lebanese society.
The participants issued the following statement:
The voice of youth is the voice of unity and brotherhood, not the voice of division and incitement.
From the heart of the Lebanese University, this edifice that brings together the nation’s children under one roof constitutes the unifying space for all its students.
The participants affirm:
- Their categorical rejection of all forms of incitement and abuse that threaten civil peace and sow doubt among the Lebanese citizens.
- The affirmation that ongoing dialogue is the only path to building a shared future.
- The view that university youth are the vital force capable of building trust among the components of society and transforming diversity of opinion into a source of richness rather than a cause of division and fragmentation.
- A call to all societal forces to engage in a new path characterized by brotherhood, dialogue, and joint action.
To achieve these aspirations, the Presidency launched a youth initiative for its students entitled: “The Lebanese University… Home of National Dialogue”.
The participants agreed on implementation steps for this initiative, which will be announced at a later date.
