The Lebanese University Faculty of Medical Sciences (LU-FMS) was established under Decree No. 1118/12 in October 1983.

It has a leading role in medical education and in graduating future medical doctors with different specialities. This is clearly stated in the LU-FMS mission and vision.

The future doctors are well recognised both nationally and internationally for their competence and performance.

This is seen in the QS World University Rankings 2024 that places the Lebanese University 577 in rank worldwide; in Medicine it places the university 551-660 in rank worldwide 2020 (https://www.topuniversities.com/universities/country/lebanon).

Mission

The mission of the Lebanese University Faculty of Medical Sciences (LU-FMS) is to educate students to become knowledgeable, skilled, and caring physicians dedicated to lead in medical practice and research, to provide the best, most ethical and compassionate patient care, and to promote health and wellness among people and communities in Lebanon and the region.  The faculty is committed to provide an excellent environment in education and research, fostering innovation and advancement in the medical and clinical sciences.

The LU-FMS aims to be recognized nationally and internationally for excellence in medical education, patient care and research. It envisions to be the primary medical partner of the Lebanese public healthcare authorities, serving the healthcare needs of Lebanese communities of all sociodemographic, regional and religious backgrounds.

NON-ACADEMIC STAFF RECRUITMENT, SELECTION POLICY AND RESPONSIBIITIES

LU-FMS policy also includes recruitment of all non-academic staff; Adminstrative staff such as the general secretary, human resources, student affairs, accountant, public relations, technical staff such as laboratory technicians/preparators and IT technicians, sport staff, library staff such as librarian and library secretariat, and facilities staff:

The decree specifies the conditions for appointment to these positions and defines the responsibilities of the respective departments. Article 1 and 2 of the decree contain detailed information regarding the type and number of staff positions.

The management review of the administrative staff, their continuous professional development and quality assurance are ensured by the central administration of the Lebanese University. A request or recommendations in this regard can be submitted by the Dean of LU-FMS.
